A SHINE OF RAINBOWS

Shy and picked on by the other boys, eight-year-old Tomas (John Bell) can't believe that of all the children in the orphanage, the warm and beautiful Maire O'Donnell (Connie Nielsen) has chosen to adopt him. Before he knows it, Tomas is sailing over the ocean toward a new life on wind-swept Corrie Island, off the coast of Ireland.

Maire's husband Alec (Aidan Quinn) however, cannot hide his disappointment with the boy. Undiscouraged, Maire introduces Tomas to the wonders of his new world and makes it clear he is exactly the right child for the family. Maire gives Tomas the gifts of love and encouragement in a special and colorful way, and Tomas thrives. As his self-confidence grows, Alec too begins to see in Tomas what Maire always has. Then tragedy strikes and Tomas is faced with his greatest challenge yet. Risking all, Tomas embarks on a perilous journey where he will need to call on all of the gifts that Maire has shared in order to triumph and come home.
